Portsmouth Evening News  Monday 5th June 2000 (Pyramids Centre, Southsea)   Muse have played it slow, played it cool, and played it right. We kind of came over for a friends eighteenth birthday party as many people do to Amsterdam, and came back a few times just for pleasure before we actually got the chance to play here with the band. Modern Drummer March 2007 - Volume 31 • Number 3 After touring for most of 2004 and 2005 in support of their breakthrough release, Absolution, southpaw* drummer Dominic Howard and his bandmates in British rockers Muse spent six months sequestered in a studio in southern France, putting together Black Holes And Revelations. It's the group's most dynamic and diverse record to date.  This time around, the band dove into new musical territory, including experimenting with various electronic instruments. Says Dom, "We had a lot of synths, drum machines, and vintage gear in the studio, so a lot of the tracks were born out of messing around with those instruments."  For his parts, the drummer approached each track individually. "The process in the studio is trial and error," Dom admits. "It was never: Let's set up a drumkit, get sounds, and record twelve tracks. It was a lot of messing around, changing mics and drums, and the moving kits to different parts...

Some are more professionally savvy than others. If you are career minded—which does not connote selling out or compromising—you are trying to move your act to the next level, and there are several paths you can take toward that goal.  To start with, there is the traditional approach that we covered here last month: demoing and sending tapes to managers and/or attorneys to have them shop for you. Aberdeen Evening Express  Thursday 7th June 2001 Muse - New Born  DIFFICULT second album? No such thing for Muse as this second cut from the forthcoming Origins of Symmetry keeps true to the thrashing rock sounds they're known for.
