(MUSE) Matthew Bellamy at Benicassim

"Benicassim is brilliant, because uh, you get...it's got a really weird line up. You know, a lot of bands. I think Benicassim sort of offers it as bands that you think have kind of disappeared, or split up or something, you know like, always...always a surprise line up, and it's uh...seems to be like a good representation of English bands always you know, every year, and uh, the backstage is probably one of the best kind of party areas backstage, you know? The promoter hands out all these free passes to women, as you are probably very very aware, and it's uh, always a great party atmosphere backstage, you know?"

"Yeah, you know, yeah...I saw Monkey's last night. I spent the rest of the time just you know, propping up the bar basically, but it was, uh I thought they were brilliant, they were really good. I think they...they're really uh, playing really well at the moment. I think they're getting ready for their gig. They've got a big gig in the UK next week, so uh it's good to see them when they're sort of right at their sort of peak playing, you know?"

"Well, tonight, we've got quite a restricted set tonight. We've been playing mostly, um, most of our gigs we've been playing like an hour and forty minutes to two hours you know, but this one. I don't know why, we can only play an hour and ten. We're going to have to play like a sort of greatest hits set really, that's all we can do in that kind of time frame, you know? So we're not going to be allowed to do anything too out of the ordinary to be honest. It's a shame, but...but apart from that though, we've got um.. you know know, we've got a pretty good production. I think hopefully we'll have uh, one of the most, uh, sort of impressive video productions you'll see here, which will be a lot of kind of video stuff going on as we are playing along. A lot of sort of DJ Shadow influenced stuff you know".

PLAYING WEMBLEY STADIUM

"It was a nerve wracking experience, but uh, once I was on stage I had a really good time. Felt surprisingly relaxed, I think and um, if anything, uh, sounds weird, but I felt...I suppose...I felt close....for some reason I felt closer to the crowd...in a venue like, I don't know why I found myself talking more and feeling more...like, like I think because they're so far away, you feel you got to reach out more, and I kind of felt like I had to uh, sort of create a bigger rapport with the crowd, you know? So for that reason, I was surprised how relaxed I was. So if anything, I'm pitching for stadiums from now on really"

"I mean, everywhere you go, you get different crowds and different atmospheres, you know? So um, you know, as far as England goes, that's probably...that's probably, you know, might be as good as it gets you know, but I mean, you know, got the rest of the world to play with..."
