Joey Jordison - MurderDolls - Moon TV Interview (Transcription)
2002 (Helsinki, Finland)
Q: Joey, how are you doing?
JOEY: Good.
Q: So how did you form this band, just being like seven years, but ah...
JOEY: Yeah, I've been doing it, you know, for seven years, and I had members come in and go. Basically, when I met Wednesday is when we got the project going full time and stuff. So we started recording at the end of last year, and finished it earlier this year, you know. Mixed it myself, and it turned out cool.
Q: You play drums in Slipknot, but here you are playing guitar on the stage, so what is the difference?
JOEY: Uh, this is more like a free spirited vibe, you know the songs are a little bit more anthematic. It's more of a fun type atmosphere. We wanna create like fun towards the audience and stuff, and not necessarily so depressing and uh you know...we don't have traumatising childhoods in this band, you know what I'm saying?
Q: So how about your live shows? What do you do on stage?
JOEY: Uhhh…we're there...play our instruments. I mean, I mean, you know...it's different every night, you know...basically, we all just kind of like play jokes on eacj other, and try and create as much, you know, energy towards the audience with us as possible, you know. I mean, half of the show is the crowd, half of the crowd is the band, so we are just trying to create the biggest ball of energy. So you know, we're new, so we don't have like a big production yet or nothin' so you know, we're just basically playing our songs and giving to the audience as much as possible.

Q: So, how about your influences? Listening to your music is like Motley Crue meets Misfits, or something like that. Horror movie stuff. So, what are the bands and the movies that have influenced you?
JOEY: Mainly like, uh, the our main fluence is like the first four Alice Cooper records. He's probably our biggest influence, yeah. Wednesday ironically was like, before I met him...I was surprised to find out that he wasn't a big Misfits fan at all, but I was, you know. But he didn't really have even heard of them until like the Michale Graves stuff. He'd never heard the Danzig stuff until recently. Uh, as far as horror films; The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Phantasm, Dawn Of The Dead (The Romero films), The Shining, The Exorcist.

Q: Slipknot call their fans, "Maggots", do you have any nicknames for your...?
JOEY: Yes. Our...our fans are the uh, "The Ghoul Scouts"
Q (laughs): Oh, okay...sounds good...now you are starting this tour with Papa Roach, how do you...I believe this is the first tour with Papa Roach?
JOEY: Yes, this is the first night of the tour. We're just glad that they brought us out. We are really lucky to have this tour. Not many, um, bands right now sound like us at all, like what we do, so it's kind of hard to go out with bands like of our ilk, but I know the Papa Roach guys and they are really cool. Really nice to us. So...
Q: So, I will let you to the stage show. Have a really great show, and have fun.
JOEY: You going to come and check it out?
Q: Yes
JOEY: Alright. Cool.
Q: Thanks.
JOEY: We will be lookin' for your approval, if you say it sucks, then we didn't do our job. This is the hometown of Hanoi Rocks, so we gotta do good.
Q: That's true. All right.
JOEY: Cool.
